I tell you, all them scounds could play good; I don't know which one was best. I liked that Lonnie - he was the big fat one - I liked his violin playin', but that other one, what played violin and piano, too, and everything, I believe it was Bert. They both played so good, it'd be hard to tell how to judge which one played the best - Houston Stackhouse remembers the Chatmon brothers, The Voice of the Blues

Lyrics to Tunes
« on: February 03, 2005, 11:00:18 AM »
Hay! Anyone got the lyrics to Paul Rishell's version of Kansas City Blues from Movin' to the Country CD? And any other tunes  like WasherWoman too? Wasted time on Google going to sites that don't have anything.
Also: Time is On My Side by Irma Thomas or the Stones, >:D
Can't find Steve Earl's/Del McCoury Band  lyrics to Harlan Man, Graveyard Shift, and Lonesome Road Gone (? title)Any help will be appreciated.Thanks.

Love and kisses, 8)

Hey Miller -
Listen to 'Moving to the Country' and here are the lyrics I came up with for Kansas City Blues.? I couldn't get one line but maybe you know what it is.

Kansas City Blues

Well I'm walking down Main Street, turned down Beale
Looking for the woman they call Lucille
She gonna move to Kansas City
She gonna move to Kansas City
She gonna move baby honey where they don't allow you

Well my good gal she quit me, she told me today
She'd meet down on Beale Street at the Panama Cafe
She gonna move to Kansas City
She gonna move to Kansas City
She gonna move baby honey where they don't allow you

Well I wish I was a catfish swimming in the sea
I'd have little women swimming after me
And I'd move to Kansas City
And I'd move to Kansas City
Ya I'd moved baby honey where they don't allow you

Well I feel like jumping from the treetop to the ground
Gal I love she don't want me around
She gonna move to Kansas City
She gonna move to Kansas City
She gonna move baby honey where they don't allow you

Well I'll tell you men, I'll tell you today
Never let that woman hide away
So? ????????? ? ? ?,? ask her to stay
Look for her she going away
She gonna move to Kansas City
She gonna move to Kansas City
She gonna move baby honey where they don't allow you

She gonna move baby honey where they don't allow you

.........................................
Any corrections are welcome.
So do I get a kiss?

Yes, step right up and get your kiss, young lady... :P!
Lost line: "Some old day, ask her to stay, look for her, she done gone away..." or that's what  I recall. Just listened to it on the CD abunch of times, and played along on the mando. Harpist wants to play this tune with me on the mando, at this band class I just started.

Thanks,
 Miller
