The writer is obviously having problems with the second line of the Ma Rainey verse which is given thus:

I'm sitting here wondering : will a matchbox hold my clothes
I've got a *sun to beat* : I'll be farther beyond the road

I think what she sings is:

"I got a trunk too big to be botherin' with on the road"

Any other offers?

I'm sure the line also crops up in another recording of that generation of female vaudevillians.
