B was my son's godfather, and I knew him as a friend for over fifty years. He was the nicest person in show business and one of the hardest working, too.

As I've noted on Farcebook, BB King came to New Zealand for the first time in the 1970s (he made three or four return visits). I was a 20-something newspaper reporter at the time and got to interview him. My memory is of an absolute gentleman who focused completely on the interview and answered every question carefully and fully ... and I still have the BB King-branded flatpick he gave me.

Not a complete surprise but still a shock. I always thought "Live In Japan" was his best album.
Where gonna miss you Riley....

There are just no words to describe what this man has meant to the world.  Thankfully, he had a full and rich life doing what he loved to do.  We should all be so lucky.

I read an article that said one of his daughters was claiming B. B. King was murdered. What a shit show. Hopefully it gets straightened out and he can rest easy.

I saw something on the web saying essentially the same thing, but subsequent reports stated that there was no evidence for Mr. King dying from anything other than natural causes. Unfortunately, when a person passes away and there are financial resources involved--and contending heirs, it doesn't always bring out the best in people.

We've been seeing it on the local news.
