I am an urban person, although I'm a very confused urban person. I was reared in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., but I was reared listening to all this weird, old stuff - Mike Seeger, notes to True Vine

Gaye Adegbalola's "Learn To Sing The Blues"
« on: January 30, 2005, 04:29:31 PM »
Hi all,

I recently purchased Gaye Adegbalola's video, "Learn to Sing the Blues" which has quite a bit to say about phrasing and elements that create that particular blues voice and telling the blues story.  I find her points helpful in listening to different artists as well as improving my own presentation of songs.  I also purchsed her CD "Neo-Classic Blues" which she did with Roddy Barnes (fantastic piano player who I think will be at camp this summer).  The CD is loaded with great blues songs that nicely exemplify the topics she covers in the video.
Hey just thought I'd throw this out to you all.  Both well worth taking in.

My best.....Jan
