I know that Bukka White played negro league baseball for the Birmingham Black Cats but have other country blues musicians also been athletes?  I have just began reading up on some negro league history and I see some similarities in the characters, culture, and occupational hazards.

white was also a boxer and if you take Leadbelly at his word he was basically a UFC fighter.
