Nonsense is nonsense. But the history of nonsense is scholarship - Saul Lieberman to an audience at Jewish Theological Seminary, introducing a lecture on the Kabbalah by Gerhard Scholem, sometime in the 1940s. Quoted by Cynthia Ozick, "The Heretic," New Yorker, 9/2/2002, p. 145

Very impressive, Carl. And an appropriate guitar, too, as Minnie was undoubtedly singing about the 1927 flood on the Mississippi. Indeed, I recently came across a quote in the box on the top of the Weenie Campbell page to the effect that the river's flow in those floods was about three times as heavy as in the devastating 1993 floods, whose amazing aftermath I saw while doing work for a client in St. Louis. The '27 flood must have been something to sing about for years after.

Really fine performance, Carl.
Quote Minnie was undoubtedly singing about the 1927 flood on the Mississippi to be fair to Minnie's partner Kansas Joe McCoy, he's the one singing on the original version of this song. Awesome job, Carl: congrats!
Loved the sound of your guitar: great playing, sir! All the best, B. Pages: [1] Go Up
