Boys, I heard what you were doing up there, and I want you to keep playing those new notes - Comment from Bill Monroe to a youthful Russ Barenberg and John Miller, backstage at the Delaware Bluegrass Festival in 1973, after having heard the band they were in, Country Cooking, play a set

King Neptune CD

Hey all
I just released a new CD. It's my first one and I think it came out pretty well. I'm booking more shows this year and I really want to make a go of it. Have a listen at:

You can check out my website:

I recorded 11 songs:
Untrue Blues           Blind Boy Fuller
Lock and Key          Bessie Smith
Do Your Duty          Bessie Smith
Walk Right In          Cannon's Jug Stompers
Cocaine Blues          Luke Jordan
Meat Shakin' Woman                    Blind Boy Fuller
Meet Me At The Bottom                Pink Anderson
T'aint Nobody's Business if I Do     Bessie Smith
A Good Man Is Hard to Find           Bessie Smith
Send Me To The 'Lectric Chair        Bessie Smith
Shake Sugaree                             Elisabeth Cotten

A lot of Bessie Smith-they're all my own arrangements. I do about 10 of her songs, they're addicting. Most of the others I've been playing for years, except Meat Shakin' Woman and Shake Sugaree which I worked up for the disc. Anyway, have a listen, tell me what you think. I hope you enjoy!

Well done King Neptune, I enjoyed the 5 tracks.
I hope the songs with the drums added don't scare away the purists, but I liked it.

Thanks Harry! The drums are only on 3 songs, 2 Bessie Smiths and the Gus Cannon, so I think I get a pass.  >:D
