Just wondering if there's even been a discussion about this this awesome song... I'm finding it hard to believe not but I can't turn it up by searching.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a previous discussion?

I read something about it being in a D-minor tuning with a flatted 3rd string.
Just sounded interesting and it'd like to look into it.

I could be completely wrong on this but standard tuning key of E works well. I'd really like to know myself because I started working on playing it last night.

I agree with Nate that both "Mississippi Jailhouse Groan" and "Ham Hound Crave" were played out of E position in standard tuning.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction... Don't know where David Evans got this thing about the open D minor tuning in his book.
I'm going to sit down with this and see if I can come up with something.

Also, John I recently heard about your upcoming DVD 'Improving Your Ear for Country Blues Guitarist'. I just want to say this is an awesome idea and so perfect for someone like myself who's trying to develop that very thing. I can wait to check it out.

Evans' book has other tuning errors as I recall. A Blind Lemon song listed as being in Spanish tuning when it is played in A standard. I think that mistake also appeared in a Stefan Grossman book. The Lacy tune is pitched low, around D, so one might see how the error came about.
