I thought that it was such a privilege for me to be doing those sides with Georgia, that I decided to do everything I could in one bar. Everything I could dream of, I wanted to be sure I got it all in. I was like a dive bomber coming in, playing everything but what she was singing, playing the fastest run I could that had nothing to do with expressing the blues. It was wrong! - The self deprecating Les Paul on his 1936 recording sessions backing Georgia White

Here's a new CD out today which will probably be of interest to folks on the forum, although covering more styles than CB:

Thanks for the heads-up. This looks like a good collection of early southern music.
I also added it to my "waltz thread list" since Seeger is doing Spanish Fandango. :)

Cheers

Picked it up and finally had a chance to really listen to it all of the way through without interruption. Highly recommended. Great version of Frank Hutchison's "Worried Blues"--and many others as well.

I bought the album from emusic.com a few minutes after hearing Mike's appearance on A Prairie Home Companion.  I've got an old Vega guitar banjo that's itching to learn Smoketown Strut.
