I came across this article on the early medicine show / coon song artist, Pete Hampton, who toured Europe and recorded in England in the early 1900's. Perhaps some of you are interested?  The article has a link to an mp3 "Dat Mouth Organ Coon", from 1904, where he plays harmonica as well as sings.
