First published in 1955 in England and 1964 in the United States, this book by Big Bill Broonzy "as told to Yannick Bruynoghe" is the first book by a country blues singer. The book consists of three sections: a short autobiography (My Life), a discussion by Broonzy of some of his most popular songs (My Songs), and Broonzy's stories about some of the people he played with over the years (My Friends). Includes a discography and index.

Pros: Big Bill Broonzy was a raconteur of the first order. The book is a fascinating read.

Cons: Broonzy was notoriously inaccurate with his facts. So while the book is true to the spirit of Big Bill Broonzy's life and times, it cannot be relied on as either autobiography or history.
