Bunker Hill:
FWIW the original 1990 Document Memphis Minnie CDs were issued in two series - DOCD and WBCD (Wolf) - the former prewar and latter postwar recordings.

dj:
Right, you want DOCD 5028 - 5031, Memphis Minnie & Kansas Joe Volumes 1 - 4.

Yes, misremembering. There's no piano on Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe Volume 1 DOCD-5028. However the post-Kansas Joe disc Memphis Minnie Vol 1 BDCD-6008 (RST Records, but essentially still Document) has several tracks with Black Bob on piano.

Rivers:
Thanks for the clarification. I love Black Bob anyway so don't know what I was thinking at the time.

So add me to the notional waiting list for volume 1 DOCD 5028. Strange it went out of print before the others.

I suppose you could go ahead and shell for everything available and see what's missing. Minnie's stuff is sterling throughout her recorded career.
There are gems on every disc worth the price of a CD on their own so you can't really go wrong other than getting a lot of duplication and spending more $$

Might be a worthwhile project though to list, session by session, the entire recorded body of work, at least up to 1942 from B&GR, and the available releases they are on.

I'll make a table and post it when I get a chance. Could take a while, Minnie's stuff occupies 8 pages in B&GR, then there are the recordings with her as accompanist with the two Joes, Bumble Bee Slim, Memphis Jug Band.

Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe Vol. 1 is available for download from 7digital. Like iTunes, you can re-download tracks should your files go missing.
