Links to Gayle Dean Wardlow interviews
« on: September 28, 2010, 03:51:24 PM »
Just came across these at this address:

http://www.tdblues.com/?p=1125

You can listen to Mr. Wardlow interview H.C. Speir, Hayes McMullen, and Joe Calicott / Ishmon Bracey(!) Wow!

There's a trick, though, first you have to open a pdf file, then you need to move your cursor around on the text to find the links--they are not obvious at first.

There seems to be some other interesting items on this website, but I don't have the time to explore it myself right now, let me know if you find anything else worth reading/listening to at http://www.tdblues.com/

You can get the CD for those along with 19 rare songs in Wardlow's book: Chasin' That Devil Music... Searching For The Blues.

Thanks, both the CD and the previous posting slipped in under my radar.

Pretty great stuff huh? I still have to make my way through most of it but it's a treasure trove for sure.

Hey!

The TDblues site is actually my site.  The recorded interviews are a gem for sure.  Thanks to Wardlow for releasing them, and the university for hosting them.

Also, I recently held a benefit in the Tampa area to raise money to buy Willie Brown a headstone.  The Benefit was successful, and we hit our goal.  We are currently talking with the funeral home that buried brown, and should have the marker placed by the end of the year.

Rock on!
