Still not sure about the 'Got to take my PISTOLS AND OVERHAULS' line...

I hear "Got to take my CHRISTMAS IN MY OVERHAULS" pretty clearly.  Overhauls = overalls.

Leadbelly also sings that 'overhauls' line in You Don't Know My Mind, version on Columbia Legacy's King of the 12 String guitar.

In the "two big cars" verse, they are "rolling side and side" (instead of "side by side").
And in the "T for Texas" verse I think it's "she didn't care for me" (instead of "feeling care..."). Thanks! Chezz

Hey guys,

Been working on this little hip shaker in A recently... Not to complicated but I'm fudging the E7 a little at the moment as I can't quite work out what he's playing... Here are the lyrics i have, any suggestions on them or the E7 chord would be much appreciated. cheers!

The Ins and Outs Of My Girl
Say's my baby's got something, I don't know what it is
I mean, the gal got something, I don't know what it is
I mean, my baby got something, I don't know what it is
I mean, every time she love me, man you know I can't be still

She got something like a (stinger reed??)
I mean, She got something like a (xxx)
I mean, the girl got something like a (xxx)
She can stand in Memphis and put the (chugs) on me

What she's got now it is (so prime)
Ah what she got is really (so prime)
Ah what she got now is really (so prime)
I mean what she got man surly will appetize

She taught me things that (was a fact)
I mean, she taught me things that (was a fact)
I mean, she taught me things that (was a fact)
She said man if you love me you surely will trot along back

She got something that I really do love
I mean, she got something that I really do love
I mean, she got something that I really do love
it ain't in her stocking, man its just above

I told her things that I want her to on???
I mean, I told her things that I want her to on
ah, I told her things that I want her to on
Said I want you to come and do my loving' in my own home, a-home,

2.1-2.3 stingaree
2.4 it sounds like "checks" but I think he's singing "chinch" -- Lemon talked about "putting the chinch bug on me" -- "jinx" also a possibility there

3.1 so prime is right, I think
4.1 was a fact is right, I think

6.1 I always heard this as "that I want heard-ed on" meaning "something I want her to hear" but I certainly would be willing to accept something that made more sense.

Hi everyone,
I've been working on this Pussy Cat Blues, a great number in E, and I'd appreciate some help with the words in the last verse.
Here's what I've got :

Now listen here folks, I'm gonna sing to you
A little song about those old Pussy Cat Blues
But please tell me old pussy cat
What you keep on whining all night
Mmm, tell me old pussy cat,
What you keep on whining all night
Says, ain't old Tommy just treating you all right?

Now she began to whine, she began to frown
Next thing you seen was every old cat in town
But please tell me old pussy cat,
What you keep on whinin all night
Mmm, tell me old pussy cat,
What you keep on whining all night
Says, ain't old Tommy just treating you all right ?

Now the cats all fightin, it ain't over no rat
But most everything you know will (we'll?) fight bout that
But please tell me old pussy cat
What you keep on whining all night
Mmm, tell me old pussy cat,
What you keep on whining all night
Says ain't old Tommy just treating you all right ?

The old cat's in the kitchen,
The kittens in the (low?)
(we'd ?) seen old Tommy when he broke it all (?)
But please tell me old pussy cat
What you keep on whining all night
Mmm, tell me old pussy cat,
What you keep on whining all night
Says ain't old Tommy just treating you all right ?

Thanks!

In the third verse will is right, although it should be "anything" instead of everything.

In verse 4, the kittens are in the loft, we'd is right and it's broke it "off" - hope that helps!

On "The Ins and Outs Of My Girl,"
3.1: surprise.
6.1: Want her to own.

On "The Ins and Outs" - I think he is saying that she has magical powers - she can be far away and still put a jinx on him.  I've never heard "stingaree" as referring to hoodoo, but here it seems to me to be like a "mojo" or magic charm.

The Ins and Outs Of My Girl
Say's my baby's got something, I don't know what it is
I mean, the gal got something, I don't know what it is
I mean, my baby got something, I don't know what it is
I mean, every time she love me, man you know I can't be still

She got something like a (stinger reed??) "STINGAREE"
I mean, She got something like a (xxx)
I mean, the girl got something like a (xxx)
She can stand in Memphis and put the (chugs) on me "JINX"

What she's got now it is (so prime) "A PRIZE" or "SURPRISE" or maybe "SURPRISING"
Ah what she got is really (so prime)
Ah what she got now is really (so prime)
I mean what she got man surly will appetize

She taught me things that (was a fact) YES
I mean, she taught me things that (was a fact)
I mean, she taught me things that (was a fact)
She said man if you love me you surely will trot along back

She got something that I really do love
I mean, she got something that I really do love
I mean, she got something that I really do love

My 2 cents worth:

I think stingaree is right.

2.4:  She can stand in Memphis, man, and put the CHICKS on me

3.1:  What she's got now it is SO PRIZE

4.1 I think is:  She TOLD me things that was a fact

6.1:  He sure does pronounce "on". but I think it should be transcribed as "I told her things that I want her to OWN"

I don't think Bo is talking about hoodoo here.  A hoodoo would be stuffed in her pocket or stocking or somewhere like that, but with Bo's girl "It ain't in her stocking, it's just above.", and her stockings would come halfway up her thighs or more.   :o
