Hi Robert,

I'd never heard of/seen this before. Since it was coming out of Toronto, you might want to check with the the Toronto Blues Society at http://www.torontobluessociety.com/ if no information turns up here. They might know of it.

Does it have a date? It's possible that I saw an issue or two way back when, but I can't be sure. Some of the smaller publications would run an ad in Sing Out! and one of us would subscribe for a year and we would share the issues. I'll have access to OCLC tomorrow, so I'll check to see if its anywhere in the system.

Thanks, GhostRider. When I clicked on it the first time, I just got an empty page from Serving.com. 1976 makes it a definite possibility as it is something that would have caught our attention. I'll see what I can find out tomorrow.

If you go to the Son House page on Stefan Wirz's website and scroll amost to the end you'll see one from October 1966 which reprints Al Wilson's 1965 SH interview/biography/discography first published by the Broadside of Boston magazine the previous year.

This great little bi-monthly Canadian mag ran for about three years starting in June 1975.
I have 10 copies and managed to find a few others (photocopied) through an interlibrary loan. I suggest to search for it through that way.
It was really geared for guitarists - lotsa tabs.  Colin Linden and Bo Basiuk were the driving forces.  Every issue had a different bluesman as main subject.  There were issues about Robert Johnson, Mance Libscomb, Memphis Minnie, MJ Hurt, Rev Gary Davis and Bukka White.

Contact the Toronto Library, I'm sure they'll have it on file and can make photocopies for you.
I doubt if the Bo Carter and McTell issues were ever published, I've never seen them but I know there was talk about them.
Coling Linden, one of the editors is still active as a musician http://www.colinlinden.com/
maybe he can help you.
Good luck.

I checked OCLC / WorldCat today and unfortunately it appears that none of the member libraries have "Blues Magazine" in their holdings. If Colin Linden and Bo Basiuk give their permission, perhaps it would be a good candidate for the "photocopy, scan, PDF, archive" process. It seems a shame that a resource such as "Blues Magazine" should be unavailable and inaccessible--and allowed to fade into obscurity.

I believe there were 24 issues in all, from February 1975 to June 1979. At least, those are the issues I have ...

I'm not too sure what is meant by other mag like this one, but if you click on the link below and scroll to the end you'll see a scan of a 1966 publication devoted to SH and written by the late Al Wilson.

(I have a house full of "old blues magazines")  ;D
