National mandolin - German silver?
« on: November 30, 2006, 01:43:16 PM »
Hi Folks

I am mostly playing on a Regal Dobro mando from the 30's. Setup for great playing by Franta and his lads at the Amistar workshop in Prague. Pics after the post...

BUT I just bought a National Style 0 mandolin, 1941, from Schoenberg guitars in California. They said their expert said it is German silver, but I couldn't find any info about it in Brozman's book or on the net. Any of you have any of these mandos or know about them? What is the sound like? Will be awhile before mine arrives in Sweden.

all the best
Bert

Wow, what a little beauty. I don't know much about them, but however it sounds, I'm sure it will have a character, developed further with a little set up, perhaps, that will give you lots of fun finding all the different voices it can sing with. I think you better try to relax before it gets there, that long wait would turn me into a wreck.

All for now.

Hi John

it will be fun to try all those great sounds that should come out of this one. I have things to play on till it arrives so I won't be TOO freaked out till then!

cheers
