Her full voice filled the entire auditorium without the use of mikes like we use today. That was singing the blues! I was really inspired and kept plugging to become a singer - Victoria Spivey, on seeing Mamie Smith perform at Houston's City Auditorium

"Peanut the Kidnapper"

Possibly one of the weirdest blues names ever.

"Peanut the Kidnapper" is a name I immediately wish to assume as a nom-de-plume....

Minor report re spelling (no major charge): -

Quote
Blind Blake - Champaign Charlie Is My Name
from "Before The Blues Vol. 3"

 ;)

One of the best blues monikers I've encountered...

Hi all,
In the realm of silly Blues monickers, I've always been a fan of Peetie Wheatstraw's "The Devil's Son-In-Law".  I can envision him making small talk at parties--"Yes, as a matter of fact, I'm related to the Devil through my wife's people.  In fact, he's my father-in-law, and I can tell you, he's really gotten a bum rap, he's a hell of a nice guy."
All best,
Johnm
P.S.  Sorry about the thread creep, I realize this isn't exactly about Juke text errors.

But a heck of a lot more fun and interesting than Juke Text errors.

I was pleased and relieved to find that there was nothing for me to do!   ;D

But slack, what about my astonishing eagle-eyed brilliance (above) in pointing out
"Champaign(sic) Charlie Is My Name" (Blind Blake - Before The Blues Vol. 3) ?

I'm only going to request the other (correctly spelt) version on the juke.   8) ...

John you're right about Peetie - why on earth did he claim to be related to the devil only by marriage ? !

 >:D      >:D      >:D      >:D      >:D

Your envisioned Peetie Party Patter made me laugh out loud . . .

Oops, I completely skipped over that one  :P (shows you how hurriedly I sometimes read the forum).

Fixed now - thanks Hamhound!

Hi Slack,

Snooks Eaglin's album comes up as New Oleans Street Singer, rather than New *Orleans* Street Singer on all the tracks of it on the Juke.

Some from Buddy Moss:

Some Lonsome Day (14065-Tk 1) -- Should have an 'e' in Lonesome... and I presume this is a different version from the other two versions off the same album?

Whent He Hearse Roll Me Form my Door -- Two for the price of one!  Should be "When the" and "From my Door"

And, if we're gonna be picky, we have an unnecessary capital in "Tricks Ain'T Walking"

The albums "Bottles, Knives, & Steel" are also giving spaces at the start of some names -- Allen Shaw (Moanin' the Blues), Buddy Moss (Hard Road Blues), Helen Humes (Cross-Eyed Blues), Leadbelly (Packin' Trunk Blues), Son House (Special Rider Blues)

Something just played on the Juke listed as Mae Hawkins - Put Me Back in the Alley, from Richard's 78 Collection CD2. However the song that actually played seemed to be Jimmie Rodgers, Tuck Away My Lonesome Blues.
